Bata

This is a short clip of some young Bata drummers, children from a long long lineage of Ayan drummers from the area to the north of Oyo town & Ogbomoso towns, which is the traditional and cultural heart of the Yoruba of Nigeria. Bata is also worshipped like any other Deity of the Yoruba people, and can speak like a human, people accustomed to the traditional Yoruba language can decipher the words that the Oni-Ilu (person drumming) is saying and will often sing along to the words of the drum, Bata is also closely related to the Orisa Sango and to Egungun society.
The highly developed artistic forms of the Yoruba people has many things to showcase to the world. These drummers are around 6-8 years of age and have been drumming several years under their mentor.

Bata Illic - Schlagersänger 60er Jahre

* 30. September 1939 in Belgrad

jugoslawisch-deutscher Schlagersänger.

1967 nahm Illic seine erste Schallplatte auf. Seine ersten Erfolgstitel in den Hitparaden waren 1968 "Mit verbundenen Augen" und "Schuhe, so schwer wie ein Stein". 1972 hatte er seinen allergrößten Erfolg "Michaela". Er trat ist zahlreichen Musiksendungen (unter anderem ZDF-Hitparade) auf.

Bata Illic studierte Englisch und Italienisch und war danach als Lehrer tätig. 1963 bekam Illic mit seiner damaligen Band einen mehrmonatigen Gastspielvertrag für einen amerikanischen Club in Bad Kissingen. Weitere Verpflichtungen für Clubs in Bad Hersfeld, Fulda und Berlin folgten.

Er trat in zahlreichen Musiksendungen auf, unter anderem in der ZDF-Hitparade. Auch die folgenden Jahre waren sehr erfolgreich für ihn als Schlagersänger. Anfang der 1980er Jahre wurde es etwas ruhiger um ihn.

In den 1990er Jahren erlebte Illic ein Comeback. Er tritt auch heute noch in Rundfunk und Fernsehen auf, wobei er gerne deutschsprachige Versionen von Aznavour-, Celentano- oder Bacharach-Titeln, aber auch seine alten Hits singt.

The Bata canal is a historical waterway, built in 1930-ties to increase the ground water level, and to enable the irrigation and navigation. It is 50 km long and makes a link between Otrokovice and Rohatec. The construction consists of movable weirs with telescopic boards and irrigation flaps, locks, irrigation and drainage canal system dispersed in the landscape. It is partly identical with the Moravia´s channel and partly it uses a new dig artificial channel. The channel passes by the river from Spytihnev down to Stare Mesto. It leaves the river behind in Veseli nad Moravou again, meeting it in a unique way outside Vnorovy and continuing down to Rohatec.

At present, 43 kms of the original Canal are opened, with 17 kms of joined river routes. Thus, there is a water link between Otrokovice and Straznice counting 10 locks.
